DBasia.news – Chelsea’s victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup was confirmed through goals scored by Ross Barkley. Van Dijk’s poor performance in the back was in the spotlight for Liverpool’s defeat.
Chelsea won 2-0 over Liverpool at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday (3/4/2020), in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Goals scored by Willian and Ross Barkley.
The first goal was thanks to Fabinho’s error in passing the ball. Willian won the ball and immediately passed into a goal with a hard right leg kick.
Than the second goal of the Blues made from Barkley’s sharp eye. The 26 years old midfielder could made confused the other Reds defender, Joe Gomez.
In the rapid counter-attack situation, Barkley started to dribble. While Joe Gomez tried to cut his opponents to secure his territory.
However, Barkley suddenly changed his running pace and made confuse of Gomez. Too bad Gomez doesn’t have his friends for back up to stop Barkley.
At the moment, Barkley immediately fired hard from the outside of the penalty box and sent the ball into the left corner of the opponent’s goal.
Many highlighted the Van Dijk’s absence during the goal process. The Europe 2019 Best Player was not in his position to secure The Reds goal.
During the goal process, Van Dijk was seen still running from the back trying to catch the bus. He failed to secure the back line area, until Gomez can do nothing to stop Barkley himself. If Gomez insisted to push and do more, Barkley could have just pass the ball to his teammate and their chance to score a goal was still wide open.
Whoscored rated Van Dijk performed below expectation. He didn’t even do one single tackle, when Barkley could actually win one tackle.
Overall, Liverpool’s back line was clearly in the spotlight. In the last three matches, Liverpool has conceded seven goals. The Reds clearly has home work to do with their back line area.
