Verthongen: Man City and Liverpool Will Not Dominate the Premier League Again

Man City

DBasia.news –  Tottenham Hotspur defender, Jan Vertonghen, is not convinced Manchester City and Liverpool will continue to   dominate the Premier League next season.

The Premier League’s top standings last season were practically divided into two parts. In the first part, there were Man City and Liverpool who competed throughout the season. Man City became champions with 98 points, Liverpool were runners-up with 97 points.

Last season, Chelsea and Tottenham managed to win the last two tickets to the Champions League, Arsenal and MU were forced to settle for the Europa League. This proved a big gap between Man City and Liverpool with four other teams.

However, Vertonghen guarantees the similar thing would not happen in the upcoming 2019/20 season. He guaranteed that the four strong teams would shake the dominance of Man City and Liverpool.

Liverpool

“I don’t think Man City and Liverpool will go as they did last season,” said Vertonghen.

“There are at least six teams who want to compete for the Premier League title, and we all know who they are. I myself consider [Tottenham] as one of the three or four best teams in the league.”

“We lost a few matches around March, April which should not be the case, then Man City and Liverpool continued to win their matches,” added Vertonghen.

“We finally left too far away from them to compete for the Premier League trophy, but I think we have learned a lot from that mistake,” he concluded.
