Wembley, Tottenham’s Home in Champions League

DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur will play all the group phase matches of Champions League at Wembley Stadium. They are still waiting for the confirmation to move to the new stadium.

Spurs were initially scheduled to play at White Hart Lane on September 15 against Liverpool. But the stadium that has been renovated and added the capacity to be 62,000 seats is still facing a problem related to the safety.

That’s why they decided to postpone the move and stay in Wembley.

During the Champions League this season, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad join the Group B. They will play against Barcelona (October 3rd), PSB Eindhoven (November 6th), and Inter Milan (November 28th).

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said his club did everything to perform in the new stadium as soon as possible.

“Amongst the consequences of the delay have been substantial additional costs, not least of which the need for alternative venue hire, along with the inconvenience for our fans and those of our opposition,” Levy said in his statement.

“As soon as we have confidence in our project managers’ and contractors’ ability to deliver against the revised schedule of works, we shall be able to issue dates for test events and the official opening game.”
