Xavi Doesn’t Want to Rush Coaching Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Ernesto Valverde felt the hammer of dismissal this season in Barcelona until finally replaced by Quique Setien.
The appointment of Setien certainly invited questions from the public, especially before it was rumored that the club wanted to make their former player, Xavi Hernandez, the new coach.
Now an interesting fact was revealed, Xavi admitted that he did indeed get an offer to coach Luis Suarez and squad, but he refused.
“In January, I held talks with Eric Abidal and Oscar Grau, there was a big offer that they submitted, but at that time the moment was not right because I needed more experience. Being able to coach Barcelona was a dream,” Xavi said as reported by Marca.
Xavi has just started his coaching career, the Spaniard is now in charge of the Qatari club, Al Sadd since May 2019, in his inaugural season he managed to deliver his team advanced to the Asian Champions League semifinals, unfortunately they failed to get to the final after losing 6-5 on aggregate from Al Hilal.
Luckily, Barca are now showing a pretty good performance under the direction of Setien, they are in the top position of La Liga standings with a collection of 58 points.
