Zvonimir Boban Reveals the Reasons AC Milan Choose Stefano Pioli
By db-admin
DBasia.news – AC Milan’s director, Zvonimir Boban, revealed the Rossoneri’s reason for preferring Stefano Pioli as the new coach, not Luciano Spalletti.
AC Milan finally fired Marco Giampaolo after a series of negative results. Il Diavolo Rosso officially appointed Stefano Pioli to support Gianluigi Donnarumma and friends.
Besides Pioli, Milan also approached Spalletti. However, the former AS Roma tactician was still under contract with Inter Milan. As a result, the negotiation process became difficult.
Zvonimir Boban did not deny AC Milan approaching Pioli and Spalletti at the same time. However, he denied that Pioli was a Rossoneri backup plan.
“Pioli is the best solution available on the market. He is not the second choice,” said Zvonimir Boban as reported by Calciomercato, who launched the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We evaluate two situations. Spalletti is a coach with great technical skills, but that does not mean Pioli is the second choice,” said Boban.
“Pioli is a strong person, has good football ideas, and he has repeatedly taken over the team.”
“Now, Pioli and his staff are evaluating players. Many players will develop,” said Boban.
Related to AC Milan’s plans in the 2020 winter transfer market, Boban doesn’t want to make much noise. Boban claimed not to talk about it.
“We have not talked about it. This is not the time. We will conduct an evaluation with the coach and will see the situation,” explained Boban.
Stefano Pioli’s first test was AC Milan’s match against Lecce, at the San Siro on Monday (10/21). At present, Milan is 13th after only gaining nine points from seven matches.
