Bersaing dengan rivalnya, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo masuk dalam kandidat pemenang penghargaan Pemain Terbaik dari Globe Soccer Awards. Selain Messi, megabintang Juventus ini juga akan bersaing dengan Bernaldo Silva, dan empat pemain Liverpool lainnya.

Dikutip dari Football-Italia, Ronaldo menjadi kandidat kuat memenanginya bersama dengan Messi, Silva, serta Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, dan Virgil van Dijk, dalam gala seremoni yang akan diadakan di Dubai pada 29 Desember 2019.

Pada edisi sebelumnya, Ronaldo memenanginya beserta kategori Globe Soccer 433 Fans’ Award. Total, pemain berusia 34 tahun itu telah lima kali memenanginya – tiga kali beruntun pada medio 2016-2018.
