14 Barcelona Players Threatened to Be Victims of the Laporta Revolution
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The Barcelona revolution under Joan Laporta looks set to start next summer. As many as 14 players are estimated to be potential victims of this policy.
Laporta officially returned to serve as president of Barcelona in early March. He won the competition with a number of names to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Ironically, Laporta had to accept the harsh reality at the beginning of his leadership. Barcelona failed to excel in two prestigious tournaments, namely LaLiga and Champions League.
Barcelona were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from the last 16 of the Champions League. Ironically, it happened just days after Laporta’s victory.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s chance to win LaLiga is almost closed. With two matches remaining, Lionel Messi and his friends are still six points behind Atletico Madrid who top the standings.
Barcelona’s success in winning the Copa del Rey seemed bland with these two failures. This condition also made Laporta furious.
Reporting from Mundo Deportivo, Laporta will make a major overhaul of the Barcelona squad next summer. He intends to replace almost half of the team with new names.
There are 14 players who have the opportunity to be kicked out of Barcelona. Some big names like Philippe Coutinho, Miralem Pjanic, to Samuel Umtiti are included.
This policy must be carried out by Barcelona before bringing in new players. This is to keep their balance sheet from getting worse.
By releasing a number of stars, Barcelona can indeed save expenses from the salary burden. However, that does not mean that the Blaugrana will give a discount to the list of players in question.
Barcelona opens the option to borrow a row of stars that are used. This policy will be carried out if no club meets their star transfer price request.
Aim for Free Players
Apart from releasing many players, Barcelona is also targeting a number of stars on free transfers. Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay are among the main targets.
This policy is also still related to the financial condition of Barcelona. El Barca does not need to spend a transfer fund so that the money can be diverted to pay the player’s salary.
One name that Barcelona have successfully carried off with this policy is Eric Garcia. The Manchester City defender will dock at the Camp Nou next summer for free.
But Laporta has exceptions for a number of big names like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe. He is believed to be ready to spend large sums of money to get the hottest commodities in the upcoming transfer market.
