2020 has Just Begun, Liverpool already Achieving Records

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Early 2020 Liverpool began the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Sheffield United at Anfield.

The victory over Sheffield also left an interesting and unique record for Liverpool. For Jurgen Klopp’s team this was their 37th match without defeat in 2019. They recorded 32 wins and only five draws.

An impressive record that has made the Reds collected 101 points throughout 2019 since the last defeat of Manchester City on 3 January 2019.

Liverpool became the third club in the Premier League who managed to carve that record. They followed in the footsteps of Arsenal who were then unbeaten in 49 matches and Chelsea who carved a record similar to Liverpool from October 2004 to November 2005.

Another unique note is the victory over Sheffield has confirmed Liverpool as a club that likes to defeat promotion clubs. Sheffield United became the newest promotion team that was defeated by Liverpool.

Since under Jurgen Klopp in the 2015-2016 season, Liverpool have a good record against the promotion teams at Anfield.

Based on data from Opta, Liverpool has won 11 home matches against the promotion team since Klopp served as coach or 100 percent.

Not only that, Klopp was also able to show the dominance of Liverpool through goals. When facing promotion clubs, Liverpool have scored 33 goals and only conceded 4 times.

In addition, the results of the match against Sheffield also provided a neat incision for Liverpool in the defense sector. Liverpool have now managed to make five clean sheets in a row. This is the first time since 2007 the Reds have carved the same note. It was Liverpool who recorded five clean sheets in a row in mid-August to September 2007-08 season.
