4 of Liverpool’s problems that Jurgen Klopp must address
By db-admin
DBasia.news – When Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus failed to win, Napoli actually won by a landslide victory in the first group match.
Amazingly, Napoli defeated the 2019 Champions League champions Liverpool with a landslide score of 4-1 at the San Paolo in the first match of the Champions League group A, Thursday (08/09).
Four of Napoli’s goals came from Piotr Zielinski (5′ penalty, 47′), Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (31′) and Giovanni Simeone (44′), while one consolation goal from Liverpool was scored by Luis Diaz (49′). A special win for Napoli, but bitter for Liverpool.
The defeat was a big warning for Liverpool who also appeared inconsistent at the start of the Premier League season. Although Liverpool have reasons for many injured players, but that is not tolerated as a club of Liverpool’s caliber should have a good squad depth.
Quoting from the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp has 4 problems to solve at Liverpool after the crushing defeat to Napoli. Klopp must address it while the new 2022-2023 season begins.
1. Loss of Playing Intensity
Liverpool did dominate the game and that happened due to the quality on paper of the team’s squad. But one important element that was famous in the Jurgen Klopp era is missing: the intensity of play that is vital in gegenpressing.
Uniquely, the interesting statistic is that this season Liverpool lost in terms of running distance with opponents, one of them even with a distance of 7 kilometers.
Liverpool lagged behind in every opponent in terms of distance traveled, intensity of runs and sprints. The record is clearly unique for Klopp’s team. A bad pre-season, new training method or mental? Nobody knows for sure and only Jurgen Klopp can solve it.
2. Senior Players Underperforming
In Liverpool’s current challenging situation, senior players such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson to Fabinho should be able to lift the mentality of the club’s play.
Whether it’s because they’re getting bored, haven’t been motivated after the success of the last few years, or they’re getting old, no one knows for sure. In that area Klopp must be able to motivate his players.
3. Player Injury
The problem of player injuries is beyond Klopp and how quickly times change. Last season Liverpool practically had the strongest squad with success in winning the FA Cup and League Cup, reaching the Champions League final and finishing as runners-up in the Premier League.
That’s no longer the case. 11 players left, be it on loan or on sale, the five players who left are of high profile. Only 4 players have been signed, 1 of them on loan and so far 12 have been injured, 6 of them due to hamstrings.
Liverpool doctor Jim Moxon left Liverpool and Klopp needs a refresher in that area. But then again, a club like Liverpool should have good squad depth. No doubt Klopp had to look for ideas with the existing squad to rotate players.
4. Goalscoring Sharpness
Despite the 9-0 win over Bournemouth and that was in just one game, Liverpool were not sharp or clinical enough in front of goal. Mo Salah, who is the mainstay, has only scored three goals from eight matches, Darwin Nunez has 2 goals from 5 matches.
Liverpool’s scoring average conversion rate is poor at 13%, only Roberto Firmino has a good record at 27%. The issue is quite interesting as12. 4 Liverpool Problems Jurgen Klopp Must Address

Diogo Jota’s return from injury could help, but from a creative standpoint, Liverpool still have to figure out how to replace Sadio Mane who left for Bayern Munich. Liverpool are known to be sharp in scoring goals.
