7 top scorer candidates in the Italian Serie A 2022-2023 Season

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Capocannoniere is the term for the top scorer in Serie A, it is a golden boot award like in the Premier League or Laliga, every season players will most certainly obtain the award.

The reason is that in Serie A the attackers take turns being the top scorers, few consistently do so every season. Practical for local representatives represented only by Lazio striker, Ciro Immobile.

Entering the 2022-2023 season, the capocannoniere competition is quite exciting with the transfers that occur in the 2022 summer transfer market. Here BolaSkor provides prediction regarding the top scorer candidates in Serie A 2022-2023.

1. Romelu Lukaku

The 29-year-old player returns to Inter Milan, a season after playing at Chelsea in his second spell. Romelu Lukaku’s experience is unquestionable when he won the 2020-2021 Serie A with Antonio Conte’s Inter.

Although Inter has now been coached by Simone Inzaghi, Lukaku’s insight into Serie A football is still the same. He will be a threat to the opponent’s defense and a strong candidate for top scorer with his tandem, Lautaro Martinez.

2. Dusan Vlahovic

Last season Dusan Vlahovic scored 24 goals in Serie A with Fiorentina and Juventus (move to Juventus in January 2022). Different from last season, Vlahovic now understands the Bianconeri’s style of play under Massimiliano Allegri’s direction.

The 22-year-old striker from Serbia has a great chance of becoming Serie A’s top scorer if he is able to perform at his best, and maintain consistency in playing.

3. Tammy Abraham

Moving to AS Roma was the right decision for Tammy Abraham. The English striker found Serie A as the perfect place to revive his career. The proof, Abraham scored 17 goals last season in Serie A.

The former Chelsea player also brought Roma to the UEFA Conference League champions. Jose Mourinho believed in him and Abraham became Roma’s mainstay pounder. Having Paulo Dybala by his side will further increase his chances of scoring goals.

4. Victor Osimhen

With him being injured last season, Victor Osimhen was still able to score 14 goals in Serie A with Napoli last season. Osimhen is only 23 years old and he still has a long way to go.

Even though Napoli is no longer the same due to the departure of Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens, Fabian Ruiz, and Kalidou Koulibaly, Osimhen were able to shine as a mainstay on the front lines.

5. Ciro Immobile

He has been a capocannoniere four times and he won last season with 27 goals. No wonder Roberto Mancini relies so heavily on Ciro Immobile in the Italian national team as he doesn’t have much choice.

At the age of 32, Immobile is still sharp and is entering his sixth year for Lazio. In Maurizio Sarri’s second season in charge of the club, Immobile was able to maintain his sharpness.

6. Lautaro Martinez

Lukaku’s return to Inter does not reduce Lautaro Martinez’s chances of becoming the top scorer, in fact the Argentine striker can be even more dangerous if Lukaku becomes the opponent’s attention so Martinez can move more widely.

Last season Martinez scored 21 goals in Serie A and became the third top scorer behind Immobile and Vlahovic. This season, Martinez is one of the top scorer favorites.

7. Giovanni Simeone

This striker is quite underrated (not too highlighted) even though he is adequate, especially when Giovanni Simeone plays at Hellas Verona. Last season the 27-year-old striker scored 17 goals in Serie A.

The son of Diego Simeone is a typical modern striker who is also diligent in finding gaps, has good movement without the ball, and is also good at scoring goals.
