A reunion for the former last 16 of the Champions League
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The match between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea will take place in the last 16 of the 2022-2023 Champions League. The reunion will be a moment for the two clubs to meet.
The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League did match Dortmund with Chelsea. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in an official competition.
But what is just as interesting is of course a number of former players who defended each club. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Christian Pulisic to Thorgan Hazard are included in this list.
Aubameyang was a former Dortmund goal machine from 2013 to 2018. During that period, the Gabon striker was able to score 141 goals from 213 matches.
Pulisic is also a former Dortmund player who is now strengthening Chelsea. He even defended Die Borussen since academy.
Dortmund signed Pulisic in February 2015 when the player was just 16 years old. The United States midfielder then crawled up from the U-17 team to promotion to the first team.
Pulisic only took one year to penetrate the Dortmund first team. He continued to stay there until 2019.
Chelsea hijacked Pulisic for around 58 million pounds in the winter of 2019. However, he was still allowed to defend Dortmund until the end of the 2018-2019 season.
Meanwhile, from Dortmund, there is one name that has strengthened Chelsea. The figure in question is Thorgan Hazard.
Eden Hazard’s younger brother was brought by Chelsea in the summer of 2012. The London club hopes that Thorgan can make a big contribution like his brother.
But Thorgan in the end failed to penetrate the Chelsea first team. He continued to be loaned out to a number of clubs such as Zulte Waregem and Borussia Monchengladbach who later signed him permanently.
Dortmund then hijacked Thorgan from Monchengladbach in the summer of 2019 for a fee of around 25.5 million euros. The player who is now 29 years old has now transformed into one of the key players in Edin Terzic’s team.
