DBasia.news – AC Milan actually only needed a draw or defeat less than 0-1 score to qualify for the 32-stage during the match against Olympiacos. However, the easy target couldn’t be fulfilled by Milan and they must leave the Europa League.
Rossoneri got defeated 3-1 against Olympiacos at Greece, vanishing the expectation to qualify for the 32-stage of Europa League. Milan goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, admits that this is a great hit for Milan.
“We were really hit hard, wounded by that. We’ve got to react, get our heads down and work hard. It wasn’t a defeat due to the referee, as there were some incidents, but the biggest mistakes were made by us. We had two results out of three at our disposal and just weren’t determined enough to win qualification,” Reina told Football-Italia.
“We’ll sit down and watch the game over, see where we can improve. Every one of us has to give at least 10 percent more than we’ve done so far,” he continued.
Reina believes Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso could help Milan revive from the loss and focus to the Serie A match against Bologna, Wednesday (19/12).
“He is the captain of this ship and always stands up to take responsibility. We all want to react and get a season on a track that before Thursday was really not going that badly. On Tuesday, we must go to Bologna with the bit between our teeth, trying to win a run of games before the Christmas break so we can start the second half of the season in a good position,” the former goalkeeper of Liverpool and Napoli concluded.
