AC Milan Want to Bring Mike Maignan to Replace Gianluigi Donnarumma

By db-admin

DBasia.news – AC Milan is reportedly getting closer to the arrival of LOSC Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was prepared to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma.

AC Milan continued to seduce Gianluigi Donnarumma to stay. The Rossoneri are aware that Donnarumma is an important player and has great potential. Moreover, Donnarumma also served as one of the captains of Milan.

However, the negotiation process was tough. Donnarumma and his agent, Mino Raiola, have several conditions to sign a new contract. Two of them are high salaries and also release clauses.

Given the running short of time, Milan finally chose to look for another goalkeeper. Il Diavolo Rosso no longer prioritizes extending Donnarumma’s contract which will expire this summer. That means, the goalkeeper can leave on a free transfer.

The choice fell on Mike Maignan. Transfer market expert, Gianluca Di Marzio, reported that Milan had reached an agreement with Maignan and Lille. Rossoneri poured 13 million euros (could grow to 15 million euros including bonuses) in this transfer.

Meanwhile, Maignan agreed to a five-year contract with a salary of up to 3 million euros per season.

Maignan will immediately undergo medical tests as part of the conditions for his move. If passed, the goalkeeper will be introduced to the public.

Mike Maignan’s profile

Mike Maignan is a graduate of the Paris Saint-Germain academy. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was promoted to the Les Parisiens senior team in 2013.

However, because it was difficult to penetrate the first team, Maignan chose to leave. The Frenchman headed to Lille for a fee of 1 million euros in 2015.

Maignan’s abilities shot with Lille. He is known as one of the best goalkeepers in Ligue 1.

This season, Mike Maignan has become one of the important elements behind the Ligue 1 title which was won by Lille. He recorded 21 clean sheets from 38 matches. Amazingly, Maignan conceded only 23 times.
