AC Milan’s bad trend
By db-admin
DBasia.news – AC Milan’s bad trend continues after being beaten by Lazio four goals without reply. But this result did not panic Paolo Maldini, the Rossoneri’s technical director.
The defeat against Lazio was only one of a series of poor results for Milan after the new year. Previously, it was confirmed that Stefano Pioli’s team would lose two titles that could be won in the 2022-2023 season.
Milan was tragically eliminated from the Coppa Italia. Sandro Tonali and his team were halted in the round of 16 after losing 0-1 to Torino despite appearing at the San Siro.
One week later, Milan failed to win the Italian Super Cup. This certainty was obtained after Il Diavolo Rosso lost 0-3 to Inter Milan.
Now the defeat of Lazio also makes Milan in danger of failing to defend the Scudetto. Even though they are still in second place, their distance from Napoli is up to 12 points.
Even so, Maldini did not see this condition as a crisis. He felt the public’s expectations were too high for Milan.
“We’ve conceded 11 goals in the last three games, so obviously it’s a challenging moment. But we also have to remember it’s not a total disaster, because with all due respect to this difficult moment, we are alone in second place,” Maldini told DAZN.
“Last season we were in the Champions League for the first time in seven years and won the Scudetto after a decade. So our current position is within the parameters of this team.”
The success of winning the Scudetto last season has made many people think that Milan has returned to how it used to be. Even though the composition of the players owned by Pioli is not as great as one might imagine.
But Maldini believes Milan will soon rise. Moreover, a number of key players immediately returned after recovering from injury.
“It might seem normal to say we won with our passion last season. But that’s what we need to find again without pressure,” he added.
“We are not the Milan of the 90s signing the best performing champions. Now we have the need to develop a strategy that will allow us to balance the books and challenge for the title.”
