AC Milan’s big test before the season even started

By db-admin

DBasia.news – It is less than 20 days until the 2022-2023 season will start. So far, AC Milan’s condition is still far from ideal in the 2022 summer transfer market.

Il Rossoneri signed Divock Origi as a new player after his contract ended with Liverpool. With his presence Milan have three center forwards, the other two are Olivier Giroud (35 years old) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (40 years old).

Another striker they were aiming for, Gianluca Scamacca, failed to sign for Milan and ended up joining West Ham United from Sassuolo. Milan’s budget or transfer spending is also only enough for one world-class player.

The current owners, Elliott Management Corporation and their successor, RedBird Capital, will only take over the club in September so they can’t provide much spending for this summer.

On the other hand Milan have also lost Samu Castillejo, Franck Kessie, Alessio Romagnoli, Leo Duarte and Jens Petter Hauge. Between them the loss of Kessie is quite evident as he is the strength in Milan’s midfield.

Basically the Milan squad is not much different from last season when they won the Scudetto, but only getting older over the course of a year. The situation is quite complicated and risky for Stefano Pioli’s team, let alone rival teams in purchasing players, Napoli are the one whose conditions are not much different from Milan.

Milan have Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adli, two young and talented midfielders who could be options for Pioli, but their presence is not enough to lift Milan who will also participate in the Champions League and compete at a high level.

Romagnoli’s departure was also not replaced by another senior defender, despite the fact that Milan’s defense still has Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and experienced Danish defender Simon Kjaer. That’s just not enough.

AC Milan’s Transfer

Milan’s transfer movement has been quite slow this summer. After recruiting Origi, Milan had difficulty recruiting players again, names such as Charles De Ketelaere (Club Brugge), Renato Sanches (Lille), and Gianluca Scamacca failed to be obtained.

The latter have moved to West Ham, while Sanches is closer to PSG than Milan, and De Ketelaere, his club increased his value to 40 million euros so Milan are still in negotiations to sign him.

Regarding salary Milan have no objections, although not with the fee asked by Club Brugge. De Ketelaere is the only hope to lift Milan’s performance as he has the creativity to play like his senior in the Belgian national team, Kevin De Bruyne.

De Ketelaere can score goals and create chances. The 21-year-old played 49 games, scored 18 goals and provided 11 assists at Club Brugge. His stats are 2.0 kicks per game, 1.8 key passes per game, 17 big chances were created and 1.4 successful dribbles per game.

So far also Milan are doing well in the transfer market thanks to the hard work of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, but neither can continue to create miracles with ‘cheap’ signings and have big contributions.

Milan’s management must also be willing to give their money in the transfer market if they want the club to remain competitive next season. Moreover, Milan will face a long season when rival clubs also clean up.
