DBasia.news – AC Milan successfully defeated AS Roma 2-1. Milan coach Stefano Pioli said this victory added to his team’s confidence.
Visiting the Olimpico in the continued Italian League, Monday (1/11/2021) the Rossoneri immediately won two goals. Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring with a free kick, which was followed by Franck Kessie’s goal from the penalty spot.
With the upper hand, Milan actually lost Theo Hernandez after receiving two yellow cards (red cards). Milan was able to hold on until the end of the match before conceding a goal from Stephan El Shaarawy’s shot in injury time.
With this result AC Milan has been unbeaten in the first 11 matches of the 2021/2022 Serie A. Milan have 31 points equalling to Napoli in Capolista on goal difference. Not only that, Milan really appear like a strong competitor to the Scudetto.
“We played with character, with ideas and approach. Roma are a quality team, we did well at 11 vs 11, keep trying to score more goals and that kind of character is what we need in important games,” Pioli told DAZN.
“We are going through a trend of good performances. So we have to continue, play bravely and confidently so I am thrilled,” he continued.
“There are moments in the game when you control the game, when you suffer, when you have to defend. Roma surprised us at the start of the second half, but that made the win all the more important against a team that hasn’t lost at home.”
“Victories like this gives us more confidence. So we have to continue. I like the positive attitude of this squad, both on and off the field,” said Pioli after AC Milan’s victory over AS Roma.
