After Hakim Ziyech, Chelsea is closer to Recruiting Timo Werner

As reported by the Guardian, The Blues reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to recruit Werner for 55 million euros. The development of the 24-year-old player transfer happened so fast.

According to information provided by Italian football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano at @Fabrizio Romano, Werner and his agent have confirmed to Chelsea that they are ready to consider and accept the proposed contract.

Werner also spoke to Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard regarding the transfer and agreed to contract until 2025.

“Timo Werner is ready to sign his contract as a new Chelsea player until June 2025 in the following days – administrative time. Liverpool have not sent any official offer to hijack the move,” Fabrizio Romano stated.

“Chelsea will pay 55 million euros for RB Leipzig. Timo has spoken directly with Frank Lampard,” he continued.

Since coming from Stuttgart in 2016 Werner has grown to become one of the top strikers in Europe, especially in Germany. This season he has scored 31 goals in all competitions and brought Julian Nagelsmann’s team to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Second Recruitment

Timo Werner is one of Chelsea’s target players for next summer besides Moussa Dembele (Olympique Lyonnais), Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen), and Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund).

However, Chelsea’s need for new attackers directed them to Werner. Chelsea wanted to find a coating as well as competitive competitors for Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud. Werner, who already has experience at club and international levels, has these criteria.
