DBasia.news – One day after Lionel Messi’s farewell press conference with Barcelona, unfortunate news has returned to the Catalan club and this time it’s on Messi’s compatriot in Argentina, Sergio Aguero.
As reported by Barcelona’s official website, the 33-year-old striker has suffered a calf injury and has to be out for approximately 10 days. As a result, his debut at Barcelona at the beginning of the 2021-2022 season was delayed.
“Tests carried out on first-team player Sergio Aguero have confirmed a tendon injury in his right calf. The player will be out for about 10 weeks,” read a statement on Barcelona’s official website.
“The Argentine striker signed for Barca on 31 May and after winning the Copa America with Argentina he started training as a Barca player at Ciutat Esportiva.”
There is the potential for Aguero to miss nine LaLiga matches as well as the start of the 2021-2022 Champions League group stage. The La Liga matches are against Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao, Getafe, Sevilla, Granada, Cadiz, Levante, Atletico Madrid (defending champions), and Valencia.
Aguero has the potential to return in the El Clasico match against Real Madrid on October 24, 2021, that is also taking into account the player’s fitness level.
Sergio Aguero’s Injury History
At the age of 33, Aguero has suffer a lot of injuries and it adorned the end of his career at Manchester City. Last season Aguero missed 17 of City’s games, then the previous season with a muscle and thigh injury, which made him miss 24 games.
No doubt Ronald Koeman’s Barca face a situation where they have to be careful with Aguero, as is the case with Ousmane Dembele.
