Ahead of the International Break, Liverpool Make Decisive Steps for Mohamed Salah

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Liverpool took a firm stance ahead of the arrival of the international break in September. The Reds banned Mohamed Salah from playing for the Egyptian national team.

The latest international break will take place from August 30 to September 8. A number of countries are scheduled to compete in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

In that period, Egypt will play the second round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers for the African zone against Gabon and Angola. This is a crucial phase to seal a ticket to the finals.

Egypt certainly wants to wipe out the two games. To make it happen, they need the presence of the best players including Salah.

However, the Egyptian football federation’s plan to call Salah received a negative response from Liverpool. The Red Merseyside camp refused to release one of its key players due to government policies related to travel regulations during the pandemic.

“The Egyptian Football Association has received a letter from Liverpool FC apologizing for the inability of its player, Mohamed Salah, to join the national team at its next training camp, including against Angola in Cairo and Gabon in Franceville in the World Cup qualifiers for the Africa zone,” it read. Egyptian football federation official statement.

“The English club letter refers to the precautionary measures implemented in England to deal with the global outbreak of the Corona virus, which places those returning from several countries in mandatory health isolation for a period of ten days after their return to England.”

Releasing Salah to Egypt could indeed have a bad impact on Liverpool. The player will almost certainly miss the continuation of the Premier League because he has to undergo a ten-day quarantine period.

But the Egyptian football association did not run out of ideas. They asked FIFA for a solution regarding this problem.

After all, the interests of the club and the national team are equally important. FIFA even has strict rules regarding the call-up of players to the national team, although they were slightly relaxed during the pandemic.

Interestingly, the same policy was issued by Liverpool for the three Latin American legions. The trio of Roberto Firmino, Alisson, and Fabinho will most likely miss playing for the Brazilian national team in the same period.

It is not impossible that the same policy will also be applied to other Premier League clubs. Other clubs also have players from outside the European continent.
