The Ahmad bin Ali Stadium was made official on December 18, 2020 after going through a major renovation process. The stadium is located on the edge of a desert that has many stories.

Meanwhile, the name of the stadium was taken from the fifth ruler of Qatar and also the first holder of the title of Amir, namely Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani. He was known as a wise leader.

The intricate shape reflects the beauty of the sand dunes. Meanwhile, geometric patterns are taken from the beauty of the desert, flora, fauna, and local plus international trade.

In the process of construction, about 80 percent of the previous building is maintained. Trees that have grown are also kept from being cut down.

Technology and Capacity

The facilities offered in the area around the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium are diverse. Sports facilities other than football are also available such as tennis, skate park, athletic track, water sports center, and children’s playground.

The capacity of the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium was also increased during the renovation. Previously, the stadium was able to occupy up to 21,000 spectators. Now, the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium can be occupied by up to 40,000 supporters.
