Ajax Amsterdam Breaks the Records by defeating VVV 13-0
By db-admin
DBasia.news – An interesting story came from the Eredivisie. Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam carved out the biggest win in Eredivisie history after beating VVV-Venlo with a score of 13-0.
The Ajax vs Venlo match was indeed held almost simultaneously with Barcelona’s duel against Real Madrid on Saturday (24/10). Which made the match less attractive to football lovers.
However, this did not make the Ajax players appear less. On the other hand, Erik Ten Hag’s team seemed to have additional motivation.
Ajax successfully scored four goals against Venlo in the first half. Lassina Traore scored two goals and one additional goal from Jurgen Ekkelenkamp and Dusan Tadic.
Superior with a relatively far score did not make Ajax slack off in the second half. As a result they scored nine additional goals.
In the second 45 minutes, Traore scored a hat-trick which led to a total of five goals. The other six goals were scored by Klaas Jan Huntellar (two goals), Antony, Ekkelenkamp, Daley Blind, and Lisandro Martinez.
The number of goals by Ajax in the second half could not be separated from Venlo’s condition, who had to play with ten players from the 52nd minute. Christiaan Kum was rewarded with an immediate red card after committing a violent foul on Antony.
“The team is hungry. We played at a good pace from the start,” said Ten Hag after the match.
“This result happened because Ajax forced this to happen. You have to enter the game with an attitude like this.”
A 13-0 scoreline saw Ajax break Eredivie’s biggest win ever held against Vitesse Arnhem 12-1 in 1972.
But the match against Venlo was not enough to break Ajax’s all-time winning streak. These results still lost with a score of 14-0 over the Red Boys Differdange in the 1984 UEFA Cup.
