Al Sadd Complicates Xavi’s Move to Coach Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – FC Barcelona is still trying to secure the services of Xavi Hernandez for the coaching position after sacking Ronald Koeman. Initially negotiations with Xavi’s club, Al Sadd, were allegedly easy but in fact this was not the case.
According to the latest news published by Marca, Al Sadd will only release Xavi if Barcelona provide cash with a compensation of five million euros. The owner of Al Sadd reportedly also only wants to discuss with Xavi.
Al Sadd asked Barca to pay Xavi’s buyout clause or not half of it. No doubt with the situation until Friday (05/11) local time there was no agreement between Barcelona and Al Sadd.
The Barcelona legend will not lead the Blaugrana when they play away to Celta Vigo headquarters in Balaidos, Saturday (06/11). Sergi Barjuan as interim coach will still lead Sergio Busquets et al.
Two Barcelona representatives, Rafa Yuste and Mateu Alemany, were entrusted with the club’s mandate to negotiate with Al Sadd and are currently in Qatar. The second task is not easy to convince Al Sadd.
According to other news, Joan Laporta, the President of Barcelona will step in to launch the negotiation process on Monday (08/11). However, Laporta had other agendas for the day and Xavi’s negotiations could be delayed again.
The protracted negotiations with Xavi are quite unfortunate, considering that the Spaniard has explicitly admitted that he wants to go to Barcelona and return home.
“I’ve been talking to Barca for days, it’s over,” said Xavi some time ago.
“But now it depends on the conversation between the clubs, they need to come to an agreement. Barca will come to talk, we all want to negotiate and are excited. We’ll see if it’s finally over.”
“I really want to go home. I hope that happens. I have a contract and now the club has to negotiate. They already know my position.”
Xavi has coached Al Sadd since 2019 and has successfully implemented an offensive football philosophy there. The La Masia product, which has won four Champions League titles and eight LaLiga titles, has presented four titles at Al Sadd.
