Although In Debt, Barcelona are Still Bringin In Star Players
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona’s movement in the transfer market this summer can be said to be extraordinary, but Barcelona still has a lot of debt and must reduce player salaries, but they are still able to bring in star players.
Barca’s financial problems have become a hot topic of conversation in the last year. The era of Josep Maria Bartomeu’s presidency has left a huge debt.
Last year, Joan Laporta as the new president said that Barca’s debt totaled 1.3 billion euros. This amount is certainly high, even for the world’s top team at Barca’s level.
Therefore, Barca more often approach good players on free transfers. So, why is this summer a little different?
This summer Barca have signed some interesting players. Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen were brought in on free transfers, it still makes sense.
The problem is, Barca are also making other purchases. They signed Raphinha from Leeds United and Robert Lewandowski from Bayern.
The total purchase of the two players reached 100 million euros, of course a fairly large amount. The problem is, at the same time Barca are asking the players to accept a pay cut.
In fact, Barca still have not paid off the salary debt to Frenkie de Jong. This is the problem with De Jong’s transfer to Manchester United.
Of course this movement has raised suspicions. With debt piling up and askint players to cut salaries, they are still able to bring in new players at a high rate.
This situation is explained by Spanish football analyst Graham Hunter. According to him, Barca’s case is quite unique.
“What they did was incredible, maybe even unprecedented,” Hunter told Sky Sports.
“An easy way to explain this is that in recent weeks Barca have started to agree on the sale of their market rights, selling their broadcasting rights.”
“So, they are in the process of receiving an additional income of up to 600 million euros this summer.”
Hunter explained that Barca could sign players by making a number of adjustments. However, in the end Barca were unable to outsmart the La Liga salary cap just like that.
“However, what is still unclear is whether the players can be officially registered as the Financial Fair Play rules applied by La Liga really make it difficult for Barcelona,” continued Hunter.
“Barca have to make a big change in their salary load, this is the main reason they are trying to push Frenkie de Jong to Man United.”
According to Hunter, De Jong is not the only player who will be sacrificed. Evidently Barca has released several players and will still release a few more.
“And even then they still have to release 4-5 more players, not to get money, but to cut their salary burden,” concluded Hunter.
