Alvaro Morata talks about his failed transfer to Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Alvaro Morata admitted that he had the opportunity to leave Juventus in the January transfer window, following the news of Barcelona’s interest in him.
The Spanish national team striker was close to joining Barcelona in the January transfer window, following the arrival of Dusan Vlahovic to the Turin giants.
But Massimiliano Allegri managed to convince him to stay, and made Morata a supporting striker who moved down the wing. This was also fulfilled by the coach, with the 29-year-old player often paired with Vlahovic.
“There are a lot of options, I spoke to the coach because I went through something I’ve experienced with other clubs,” Morata told Men’s Health Espana.
“I’m not a physically strong striker, I need space to run and he [Allegri] told me that Juventus would sign a new striker [Vlahovic] so I had to play as a support striker and they closed all doors.”
Alvaro Morata is only tied to a loan contract from Atletico Madrid until next summer. Juventus are reportedly willing to make him permanent, but have asked Los Rojiblancos to lower their previously agreed to an asking price of €35 million, after paying 20 million euros for a two-year loan period.
Now Morata is linked with Arsenal, and the former Chelsea striker admits he doesn’t know what will happen in his future, but remains open to anything.
“Fortunately, my wife and children are willing to think about my happiness,” stated Morata.
“All they want is to see me happy. Alice [the wife] supports me in every decision I make. I have good options and as long as I’m with them I can go anywhere, even to the moon.”
