An Active Grenade Found During Buenos Aires Derby

DBasia.news – The Buenos Aires Derby between Club Atletico Ituzaingo against Deportivo Merlo in Argentina is trending after the active grenade found inside the stadium.

The grenade was found near the away tribune and also press cabin. The finding triggers the authority to review the away match regulation in Argentina.

Apparently, since 2013, the away spectators were prohibited to witness the match in Argentina League. There were many death cases during the match and Argentina Football Association (AFA) applied the regulation before the revocation recently. Hence, more than 1,000 supporters attended the match.

The bomb squad rushed to Estadio Ituzaingo and brought the grenade before exploded in a safe place. The match continued with no goal.

“It was found deposited on the ground, under the walls of the visitors’ stand and close to the press cabins,” said the official source quoted from The Sun.

Ituzaingo President, Hernando Politano was on the stadium when the grenade was found. He explained the finding chronology in detail.

“I was in the stadium when it was found. It was half buried. It had the shape but it didn’t even look like a grenade, it looked like something buried,” Politano added.

“It was buried under one of the stands. Guarantees have been given and the security operation was carried out with normality.”

Luckily, the police found the grenade sooner before the fans came to the stadium. The quick action from Buenos Aires police could anticipate the dangerous situation for the away supporters inside the stadium.
