DBasia.news – After one loss and a draw against Dinamo Zagreb and RB Salzburg, the Blues will meet AC Milan in a three-group match.
The match will be held at Stamford Bridge, Thursday (06/10) at 02.00 WIB. Milan are currently in first place in Group E with four points and Chelsea in bottom position with a record of one point.
For the two teams, this match will be the first meeting after the 1999-2000 Champions League group stage, where at that time two meetings between the two clubs ended in a draw. Chelsea are coached by Graham Potter at the moment and the game against Milan will be his third game for the club.
Speaking of the 1999-2000 Champions League, there is one former Milan player who remembers him well, he is club legend, Andriy Shevchenko. The man from Ukraine explained how difficult the match against English clubs was.
“It was an intense game, the English team were tough. We drew 0-0. This Chelsea-Milan will be different, both teams are different at the moment. Milan have raised their level, I expect a good game, intense competition and a high level,” Shevchenko told Milan TV.
Meanwhile, for the match, Shevchenko predicts Chelsea will increase the tempo of play as they need a win. In addition, the match against Chelsea is also special for Milan striker, Olivier Giroud, who played there in 2018-2021.
“The atmosphere will heat up. Chelsea need to win and will increase the tempo, but Milan have quality players. It will be a special game for Giroud who has played for Chelsea, he di well, he will be the center of this game.” Shevchenko added.
