Ankle Injury, Dani Ceballos Can’t Appear at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

DBasia.news – The Spanish national team has a great opportunity to advance to the quarter-finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. However, the Matador Team is almost certain to continue its journey without the presence of Dani Ceballos.

Ceballos is one of three senior players who brought Spain to Japan. The Real Madrid player is expected to play an important role in his country’s pursuit of a gold medal.

Unfortunately, bad luck can not be avoided Ceballos. The 24-year-old suffered an ankle injury when Spain faced Egypt in their inaugural Group C match.

Ceballos’ ankle was accidentally stepped on by Egypt’s Taher Mohamed. The incident made the player unable to continue the match.

After undergoing a series of examinations, Ceballos did not suffer a fracture. But he still had to rest for a month.

This will indirectly end Ceballos’ gait at the Olympics. The soccer final is scheduled to take place on August 6, or about two weeks away.

Even so, Ceballos will not leave his teammates. He took the decision to stay with the Spanish national team until the end.

Spain currently tops Group C. They only need a draw against Argentina in the last game to seal a ticket to the quarter-finals.
