Antonio Cabrini Clarifies What He Said About Maradona’s Death

DBasia.news – Former Juventus player, Antonio Cabrini, reiterated the meaning of his remarks that said Diego Maradona would still be alive if he joined Juventus. This is a form of clarification as his words had offended Napoli supporters.
The world of football is mourning the loss of one of the best players in history, Diego Maradona. Maradona died at his home in Tigres, Buenos Aires, of a heart attack at the age of 60.
Former Juventus defender, Antonio Cabrini, who played against Maradona in the 1982 and 1986 World Cup, paid tribute to his old enemy. However, his remarks sparked controversy.
Antonio Cabrini said, Maradona would live longer if he chose Juventus, not Napoli.
“A living legend and a formidable opponent. Like many champions, he was able to give both the best and the worst at the same time,” explained Antonio Cabrini to Irpinia TV.
“Maradona on the pitch could have won a game alone. He could have won a game in his life which ended too quickly.”
“He will remain here with us if he joined Juventus because the environment will save him. Not the club, but the environment itself,” said Antonio Cabrini.
“Napoli’s love is strong and authentic like the pain. Napoli loved him very much, but love is sick. It is like the unconditional love of a mother for her son who makes mistakes, but is always forgiven.”
“Maradona went beyond football and Napoli chose him. Despite his vices, he deserves respect.”
Cabrini’s words received a strong response from Napoli supporters. Not wanting to get it more tangled, Cabrini accused the media of misinterpreting his words.
“You are misinterpreting my words. It is not a moral judgment, but a comment about a city that cannot contain this passion,” Cabrini wrote on Twitter.
“I think the calmer environment in which I live at Juve will protect him. I apologize to anyone who took offense.”
