Antonio Conte Will Not Survive a Season of Coaching Real Madrid
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa claimed he is not sure his former coach at Chelsea, Antonio Conte could handle a club as big as Real Madrid. Conte, who currently handles Inter Milan is said to be one of the best young coaches in the world. Moreover, he managed to bring Juventus and Chelsea the Serie A champions and the Premier League.
Costa and Conte worked together for one year at Chelsea in the 2016-2017 season. Both of them managed to present the Premier League trophy.
But Costa surprisingly left for Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. The reason is certainly because he was at odds with Conte.
“Conte and I had problems off the pitch, but I must admit that he is a good coach,” Costa said as quoted by ESPN.
Costa’s determination to leave strengthened after being offended by Conte’s attitude. The former Juventus coach sent a short message stating that he no longer needed it at the club.
“I don’t have any problems with him (Conte), but to be a top manager he needs to change the way he deals with players. At a club like Real Madrid he won’t be able to survive for a season,” he added.
Conte’s name was briefly linked with Real Madrid when Zinedine Zidane left in the summer of 2018. But at that time Los Blancos chose Julen Lopetegui.
Conte himself left Chelsea one season after Costa’s departure. Now he returns to Italy with Inter Milan.
