DBasia.news – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking still leaves a story at Manchester United. It is not easy to find a top coach or manager when the club sacks the manager in the middle of the season.
Rumors previously linked United with Antonio Conte, but the Italian is no longer unemployed and is currently coaching Tottenham Hotspur. As a result Man United options are not many.
Solskjaer was sacked following three successive Premier League defeats against Liverpool (0-5), Manchester City (0-2) and Watford (1-4). The result in the last game against Watford was the climax before Solskjaer was sacked.
In a statement on the official Man United website, the club appointed Michael Carrick as interim manager and he is Solskjaer’s assistant coach. The club is also looking for an interim manager to be appointed until the end of the 2021-2022 season.
Anything can still happen. Moreover, Man United just won 2-0 over Villarreal in an important match in the Champions League group phase, bringing United to the big 16.
If in the next two matches against Chelsea and Arsenal, Man United achieve positive results, there is the potential for Carrick to be appointed interim manager.
Carrick is a candidate, but Man United are still hunting for other names. Currently Mauricio Pochettino, who coaches PSG (Paris Saint-Germain), is still being linked with United and the club is reportedly still monitoring him.
However, there is new news from the Guardian that United are eyeing former Barcelona coach, Ernesto Valverde, to become interim manager. The 57-year-old coach is unemployed after coaching Barca in mid 2017-2020.
During those three years Valverde won two LaLiga titles and one Copa del Rey. Valverde has handled Lionel Messi and this is considered a plus, because at United there is another megastar, Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to the Guardian, John Murtough as Director of Football at Man United has started holding talks with Valverde about an offer to coach United until the end of the season.
Uniquely not only Enrique, according to The National Man United also conducted an assessment of the 57-year-old coach, Rudi Garcia. The French coach no longer trains after gushing Lille, Roma, Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais.
