Arrizabalaga’s poor performance at Chelsea
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, was unable to meet expectations in the Premier League this season. The Spaniard had minimal clean sheets and has conceded many goals.
Two Sheffield goals directed by Chris Wilder were scored by David McGoldrick (18 ’77 ‘) and another scored by Oli McBurnie (33’).
Sheffield still maintained their hope of entering the Champions League zone with a notch of 54 points in six place, five points adrift of Leicester City in fourth and still has one game savings.
While Chelsea are still in third of the standings with 60 points, but their position is prone to being shifted by Leicester (59 points) and can be shifted by Manchester United who are ranked fifth with a collection of 58 points (also has a one-game savings).
The defeat was Chelsea’s 11th defeat in the Premier League this season. Frank Lampard admitted that Sheffield outperformed his team who played slow.
“They (Sheffield) were better than us, physically, in the mindset and with the ball. So you lose,” Lampard told Sky Sports.
“They are stronger than us. You feel and hear every sound and all I can hear is the voice of Sheffield United. They are a good team. If you come here and perform under this performance this will happen.”
“We compensated for their performance. We were too slow and didn’t put our winger into the game. We tried to get control, which we did but didn’t threaten. When you are 0-2 behind you make it difficult for yourself.
“You analyze all the seasons and review and move forward. We must immediately forget about it and fight for the top four. I learned a lot and I will not forget that.”
Chelsea have conceded 49 goals and only seven teams have conceded worse than them, namely Newcastle United (52 goals), Watford (54 goals), Southampton (56 goals), West Ham United (59 goals), Bournemouth (59 goals), Aston Villa (65 goals), and Norwich City (67 goals).
42 goals were created in between when Chelsea’s goal was guarded by the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. Kepa (25 years old) was recruited by Chelsea from Athletic Club Bilbao in 2018 with a goalkeeper transfer record of 80 million euros.
From the records of @StatmanDave Kepa only recorded seven clean sheets from 31 league games this season, as many times as he appeared 30 times in the 2017-18 season with Bilbao who finished 16th in LaLiga.
Ironically from the comparison made by Squawka, ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has conceded 24 fewer goals with Real Madrid in LaLiga this season and has recorded 11 more clean sheets.
The details are 18 clean sheets, conceded 18 goals, and made 71 saves, while Kepa 53 saves, conceded 42 goals, and recorded seven clean sheets. The record has the potential to reheat the transfer rumors of his departure from Chelsea who was rumored to be looking for a new goalkeeper.
