Arsenal 0-1 Burnley: Aubameyang’s own goal, The Gunners Lose

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Arsenal lost at home to Burnley in the Premier League. The London cannon fell 0-1 due to an own goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The defeat was even worse because of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s own goal in the 73rd minute and Granit Xhaka’s red card in the 58th minute. Arsenal’s possession of the ball as much as 65% with 18 attempted kicks and six on target was meaningless.

Arsenal are now five points adrift of Fulham in the relegation zone. Arsenal have never won in five consecutive Premier League matches since they last won 1-0 at Old Trafford, Manchester United’s headquarters.

“You look at the performance of the players, how much they wanted it, the opportunities we created and then we threw away the game with a red card,” complained Mikel Arteta to Sky Sports.

“We had total control for 60-70 minutes and should have won early.”

In the end, Mikel Arteta’s team became losers with this defeat. For Burnley, the result became a new record because for the first time in the history of competition, The Clarets won at Arsenal headquarters.

Ironically, according to Squawka, Arsenal have swallowed four successive defeats at home to the league for the first time since 1959. Previously Arsenal lost 0-1 to Leicester City, 0-3 to Aston Villa, and 1-2 against Wolves.

Meanwhile for Granit Xhaka, his red card was the 40th card he received in the Premier League since joining Arsenal: 37 yellow cards and three red cards.

No doubt after the end of the match, the football pundit from France, Patrice Evra explained the surprising fact that Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry had turned off the television when Arsenal played when Granit Xhaka was the team captain.
