Arsenal Are Not Interested in Copying Chelsea’s Way of Success
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal and Chelsea are two rivals from London who are also competing in the Premier League, both of whom also met in a pre-season friendly. Given the success of Chelsea, Arsenal allegedly deserve to imitate their way to success.
However, according to Arsenal defender, Rob Holding, it was never on his mind and he also believed for the club to be like Chelsea. The Gunners were never inspired to be like Chelsea, even though the Blues were successful.
In the last few seasons Chelsea, despite changing managers frequently, were able to win the Premier League to the Champions League. In contrast to them Arsenal haven’t even won a league title since 2004.
Rob Holding sees Chelsea as Arsenal’s competitive rival, but that doesn’t mean Arsenal sees Chelsea as an inspiration for his club to follow.
“I see Chelsea as a competitive rival for us. I don’t see them as the team we aspire to emulate, and I don’t think they see us that way either,” Holding told the Guardian.
“There is mutual respect between us and recent history with the FA Cup final and playing each other in the big games.”
“I don’t think that, because they won the Champions League, we have to be more like Chelsea. Our results and league position need to improve, of course, but when we play against each other, it’s competitive.”
“We have to aim to get back into the Champions League. Without playing in Europe this season, we have no distractions or mix-ups and can really focus on the Premier League game.”
“I think Liverpool did the same a few years ago, and Chelsea did the same when they won the league in Antonio Conte’s first year. So it could be a blessing in disguise in some aspects.”
Last season, despite Arsenal’s poor season, they beat Chelsea twice 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium and won 1-0 against them at Stamford Bridge.
