Arsenal can’t have too many excuses after losing from PSV Eindhoven

DBasia.news – Arsenal were in the spotlight after going through two consecutive games in all competitions without a win. The spotlight came after the Gunners showed their performance so far in the Premier League.

As is known, Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League standings with a distance of two points from defending champions, Manchester City, from 11 matches that have been played. Arsenal were also favored as one of the champion candidates.

However, in the last two performances in all competitions, the appearance of Martin Odegaard and his team has decreased. First Arsenal drew 1-1 with Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium, then lost 0-2 to PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League.

Two goals from Ruud van Nistelrooy’s PSV at Philips Stadion, Friday (28/10), came from Joey Veerman (55′) and Luuk de Jong (63′). Arsenal’s position is still safe to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League, but those two results indicate a decline in Arsenal’s performance.

Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale insists his team don’t need much excuse after losing to PSV, just admitting they weren’t good enough to beat PSV.

“There were a few things (Arsenal’s poor performance against PSV). But we’re a good enough team not to blame things, obviously the pitch and stuff.”

“There’s no point in talking about that. We just didn’t really compete too well off the ball. The credit to them is clear too, they are good with the way they build up the attack.”

“But it doesn’t help when you come home from home, the goalkeeper made a mistake, 0-2, it was a tough fight and that’s one we have to work on. There’s a lot we can take from this, as a team and as individuals.”

Ramsdale also wants to see Arsenal’s reaction against Nottingham Forest this weekend in the Premier League match.

“I don’t think this is a reality check, I just think we have to get back to what we were doing, our basics are better than what we have shown in the last two games,” added Ramsdale.

“What happens on the pitch we can’t change now, so this Sunday our full focus is on the Premier League and getting back to the winning ways we hoped for.”
