DBasia.news – Arsenal successfully won full points when they hosted Aston Villa in the 2021-2022 Premier League. The Gunners who had been at the bottom of the standings are now closer to the top.
In the match that took place at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (23/10) am, WIB, Arsenal won with a score of 3-1. Mikel Arteta’s team returned to their winning ways after only drawing in the previous two matches.
Arsenal immediately took the initiative to attack from the start of the game. The duo of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette became the focus to score goals.
Arsenal’s efforts finally paid off in the 23rd minute. Starting from an Emile Smith-Rowe corner, Thomas Partey successfully won the aerial duel and headed the ball into the net without being stopped by Emiliano Martinez.
Arsenal were awarded a penalty in the first half of injury time. Aubameyang was fouled hard in the box.
However, Aubameyang, who advanced as an executor, failed to carry out his duties perfectly as his shot was denied by Martinez. Luckily the rebound ball fell back to his feet which made it easier to score to close the first half with the score 2-0.
Winning two goals did not slow down Arsenal’s game. After halftime, Mikel Arteta’s team appeared calmer.
Smith-Rowe further distanced Arsenal’s advantage in the 56th minute. Through a counter-attack scheme, he brought the ball into the opponent’s penalty box before releasing a low shot that Martinez was unable to stop.
Being left behind by three goals did not make the Aston Villa players give up. Dean Smith’s team tried to score a reply in the rest of the game.
Aston Villa was finally able to reduce the position eight minutes before normal time was over. Jacob Ramsey who entered in the second half curled a shot into the corner of Arsenal’s goal without being stopped by Aaron Ramsdale.
Unfortunately, Aston Villa was unable to score an additional goal. The 3-1 score for Arsenal’s victory lasted until the game was over.
The addition of three points has now made Arsenal move up to ninth place with 14 points. The team from North London are only one point adrift of the Champions League zone.
