Arsenal legend Suggest Mikel Arteta to Sell Bernd Leno
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal legend, Tony Adams suggested Mikel Arteta to replace their goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who was considered to be disappointing. Even if they want to win the Premiere League, the Gunners must sell the German goalkeeper.
“You look at Liverpool who won the league last year, the best goalkeeper, the best center back, Henderson in midfield, the backbone of the team is a phenomenal leader,” said Adams to Sky Sports News, Thursday (12/11).
The Gunners signed Leno in a 22.5 million pounds deal from Bayer Leverkusen under Arteta’s predecessor, Unai Emery in the 2018 summer transfer window. The 28-year-old goalkeeper has established himself as Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper after beating rivals, Petr Cech and Emiliano Martinez.
It is believed that Leno has a great capability in the goal. Arsenal made the surprise decision to sell Martinez in a 20 million pounds deal to Aston Villa in the summer even though the Argentine goalkeeper made a successful appearance for Arsenal at the end of the 2019-2020 season.
Adams also claims he does not believe Leno is a good goalkeeper for London Cannon, and has suggested that Arteta wants to build a team capable of challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premiere League title.
“I always say if Arsenal want to win the league again, they have to get the best goalkeeper. And for me, Leno may not be the best goalkeeper. I question Martinez’s sale, it was a mistake for me,” regretted Adams.
Leno has made 79 appearances for the North London team since moving from Leverkusen two and a half seasons ago. But so far he has conceded 10 times in eight games in the Premiere League this season.
Arsenal lost to Liverpool, Manchester City, Leicester City and Aston Villa in the Premiere League this season. Furthermore, Arsenal will face Leeds United at Elland Road in the continued Premiere League on November 22.
