Arsenal should be coached by Conte or Pochettino

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Romelu Lukaku has recently been linked with a return to Inter Milan in the summer. ThomFamous British broadcaster, Piers Morgan, is well known as a true fan of North London club Arsenal. Morgan did not hesitate to criticize or praise the Gunners, most recently he commented on the consideration of a new coach.

No doubt in the midst of his busy life, Morgan always monitors Arsenal, especially at this time in the Mikel Arteta era. The 40-year-old man had less than three years (since 2019) in charge of Arsenal, and Morgan was unimpressed by his era.

Despite presenting one FA Cup title, Arteta was considered unable to lift Arsenal’s performance, which again failed to finish in the top four, aka the Champions League zone. As a result, Arsenal now have no more value or attraction to recruit players.

“People wonder why they (the players choose Arsenal) when they have so many other options,” Morgan told talkSPORT.

“Liverpool and (Manchester) City have bought big and strengthened their squad massively, I mean the idea of City with Haaland up front is honestly scary, the only advantage to that is we might get Gabriel Jesus who would be good.

“The problem is Arsenal are no longer considered a world power where players want to go. We’re not in the Champions League, we’ve been really fighting for quite a long time now and the whole concept of Arteta’s process and ‘trusting the process’, I’m not sure I did that specifically.”

“The process has been going on for two and a half years so far and I’m not sure I’m seeing much improvement. How many league games did we lose last season? I thought 13 in the end? That used to be the resignation stuff of an Arsenal manager.”

Morgan also considered Arteta lucky enough to still survive as Arsenal manager, plus he was surprised by the contract extension given by Arsenal.

“I think Arteta is lucky to still be there and I have a big problem with the board giving him a big new three-year contract before the season ends, before we reach the top four and after three league defeats in a row towards the end of the season against the lowest teams,” added Morgan.

“Palace, Brighton and Southampton, why did you do that? It doesn’t make sense to me in terms of motivating Arteta to be in the top four.”

“At the moment nothing makes me happy and I know Arsenal fans will say ‘trust the process’, just as they told me to trust the process under the last years under (Arsene) Wenger, and I think Arteta has already decided to be on board.”

So who is Morgan’s best choice to coach Arsenal? According to him, Antonio Conte or Mauricio Pochettino are still better than Arteta.

“Personally, I prefer Conte. That’s a very interesting call and I’m not going against it. I think Pochettino is probably a better manager. The problem with Arteta is that he’s a complete rookie.”

“Maybe. I think I will, yes. I have always been a Pochettino fan, I think he is a great manager, but honestly, I prefer Conte.”

“I think Tottenham, almost by default, have ended up with one of the greatest managers in the world. I love everything about Conte and Conte will bring top players to the club.”

“You look at Arsenal and I don’t even think the top four is possible, but I’m more worried about the top six. What are we now? Are we a big club or are we signed for the next few years to a mediocre mid-table.”

“If you can’t get into the Champions League and you can’t sign top players, I’m not sure how you change this rodeo, to be honest.”
