Arsenal targets Southampton defender to be used as a coating for Kieran Tierney
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal are predicted to be very busy ahead of the winter transfer market deadline. After selling several players, The Gunners wanted to cover it by recruiting other new names.
The position of attacking midfielder is one of the highlights following Mesut Ozil’s departure to Fenerbahce. Emiliano Buendia, Martin Odegaard, and Houssem Aouar are targets for Mikel Arteta to increase creativity in playing in the middle.
While looking for an attacking midfielder, Arsenal are also reportedly looking for a left back after Sead Kolasinac returned to the Bundesliga and defended Schalke. The left-back will later coat Kieran Tierney and become part of Arsenal’s rotation.
As reported by Goal Arsenal are targeting Southampton left-back, Ryan Bertrand. The presence of Cedric Soares, former Southampton player in the Arsenal squad is predicted to play an important role in the transfer.
Bertrand (31 years old) has entered his sixth year with Southampton. Previously Bertrand was a Chelsea player for nine years and most of that period was on loan.
One of Bertrand’s best moments occurred when he won the Champions League with Chelsea in the 2011-2012 season. Roberto Di Matteo entrusted him to appear as a starter in the final against Bayern Munich.
Bertrand’s experience with successfully winning titles and playing in England is the reason Arsenal are attracted to him. It won’t take long for the English player to adapt to joining Arsenal.
Ryan Bertrand’s official price is in the range of 10.5 million euros. Judging by the quality and experience, Bertrand can be a coating as well as a competitive competitor for Tierney.
