To fix the porous back line, Arsenal are eyeing the 27-year-old Greek defender, Kostas Manolas, who now plays with AS Roma.

According to news reported by the Mirror, the Gunners are willing to activate the Manolas purchase clause of 31 million pounds. Manolas is one of the central defenders with a big profile in Serie A and Europe.

Joining from Olympiacos in 2014, Manolas has packed 200 more matches with the Giallorossi and has become a formidable doorstop, be it in Rome or the Greek national team with 39 caps and one goal.

Arsenal hope Manolas’ arrival, if successful, can fix the club’s defense which has conceded 51 goals in the Premier League. Plus, Manolas will play with his pair in the Greek national team, Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Manolas has played 35 times this season in all competitions. Unai Emery, Arsenal’s manager, needs a qualified and experienced defender who seems to help fix the fragility in the back line.
