AS Monaco Still Waiting for Profits from the Transfer of Kylian Mbappe
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Another side of the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga is starting to unfold. One of them is related to AS Monaco who can splash profits from the sale of the 22-year-old striker.
Mbappe’s future is currently in uncertainty. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is in a dilemma between selling it now or keeping it at the risk of losing it for free next year.
On the other hand, Real Madrid began to move to hijack one of the world’s rising stars. The Spanish giants are indeed the dream club that Mbappe is aiming for.
But Madrid’s first offer of 160 million euros was rejected by PSG. Even though this figure is fantastic for a player who has one year remaining on his contract.
Many people question PSG’s decision to reject Madrid’s offer. Even though Mbappe has just confirmed his attitude to leave by rejecting the latest contract extension offer.
According to a Mundo Deportivo report, there are a number of reasons that PSG refused to sell Mbappe. One of them is related to their obligation to pay some money to Monaco as the player’s former club.
PSG did buy Mbappe from Monaco for a total price of 180 million euros in the summer of 2018. The previous season, he first moved on loan.
In the buyout clause, Monaco asks for a share of the profits from the sale of Mbappe in the future. The figure touched 35 million euros.
Monaco will also benefit from any contract extensions that Mbappe signs with PSG. While these two clauses will automatically fall if the person concerned leaves for free.
35 million euros is probably a small amount for PSG. However, Monaco can use these funds to strengthen its squad and prevent Les Parisiens’ dominance in Ligue 1.
