DBasia.news – Aston Villa have officially announced they have signed Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City. Villa had to spend 35 million pounds, or around Rp707 billion, which is their highest transfer record to obtain Buendia.
After the official announcement, Villa manager Dean Smith expressed his happiness at having found a player who he considered to have great potential and would help his team.
“Emiliano has had an extraordinary season by bringing Norwich to glory in the Champioship. He recorded a combination of 31 goals and assists and became the best player in the league,” said Smith on the club’s official website.
“He has the same ability as a winger or a number 10 position. He is a great addition to our attack. I’m thrilled that we’ve signed players so early.”
This news, of course, is a blow for Arsenal who are very interested in getting the Argentine player. Moreover, the Gunners really need players who act as playmakers after Martin Odegaard finished his loan and returned to Real Madrid.
As for Villa, they have recorded the highest transfer record in two consecutive seasons. Last season they set a record when they signed Ollie Watkins from Brentford for 28 million pounds, which went up by an additional 4 million pounds.
Emi Buendia was born in Mar del Plata 24 years ago. He started his career at local club Cadetes de San Martin and briefly studied at the Real Madrid and Getafe youth teams. Before joining Norwich, Buendia defended Gatafe until 2018.
Last season, Buendia was one of the factors that brought Norwich back to promotion to the Premier League by scoring 15 goals and 16 assists.
