Atalanta Claims Eligible at the Top of the Serie A Standings
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Atalanta uprooted host Torino seven goals without reply, at the Stadio Olimpico, Turin.
These results make Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad the most productive team in the 2019/2020 season.
Gasperini feels consistency is still the next target.
“If we always play like this, we will be the top team. Unfortunately, there are times when we experience physical and mental decline, that’s where we lose points,” Gasperini said.
The visitors’ attacker, Josip Ilicic, was the star of the party. The Slovenian footballer scored a hat trick against Salvatore Sirigu.
Gasperini assessed Ilicic as a typical player who can make a difference in the opponent’s defense. The attacker is also a reference for teammates.
“It’s hard to mark Ilicic as well as Papu Gomez. They are like getting space to run. They are unstoppable,” he said.
The result in Turin saw Atalanta move up to fourth in the Serie A standings. With 38 points, Orobici is on goal difference over AS Roma in fifth place.
