DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid did not renew Filipe Luis’s contract. The player is currently strengthening the Brazilian national team at the Copa America 2019, but, most likely after that, he will leave from Atletico and force the club to look for new players in that position.
Diego Simeone’s side finished second in the 2018/19 La Liga with eleven points behind Barcelona. The Los Rojiblancos also want to bring in some new players to improve the quality of their squad after several of their key players left Wanda Metropolitano.
One of the players reportedly included in the target of Diego Simeone’s team is Marcos Alonso from Chelsea. However, Football Espana reported that Atletico canceled their desire to recruit the former Fiorentina and Sunderland player.
The Blues are claimed to have set a valuation of 40 million euros for the 28-year-old and do not want to lose one of the senior players in their squad because they are undergoing transfer ban sanctions from FIFA. Maurizio Sarri’s departure to Juventus is also reported to have made Marcos Alonso feel that his position at Stamford Bridge is safer than what he felt in the 2018/19 season.
