DBasia.news – Chelsea’s victory with a landslide score when hosting Slavia Prague in the Europa League quarter-final second leg at Stamford Bridge on Friday (19/4) early morning Western Indonesian Time. Chelsea qualified for the semifinals.
Winning 1-0 in the first meeting did make the hosts not yet in a safe position, Maurizio Sarri also chose to keep playing the main players such as Eden Hazard, N’golo Kante, and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Winning 4-1 in the first half through Olivier Giroud, Simon Dell’s own goal and Pedro’s two goals, the hosts seemed to lose focus and conceded two goals from Petr Sevcik. Luckily there were no additional goals from the visitors until finally, Maurizio Sarri’s squad escaped with a 5-3 aggregate goal.
Despite the success of winning and qualifying for the semifinals, Cesar Azpilicueta as the captain of the team claimed not to be satisfied with the performance displayed by the Blues, even the Spanish player did not hesitate to criticize Chelsea’s performances, especially in the second round.
“We continued to make the same mistakes and conceded at the beginning of the second half. Chelsea were 4-1 ahead, but Slavia Prague managed to make it difficult for us, the team played with risk, I and my teammates also suffered until the end of the match,” said Azpilicueta as reported by Goal.
“This is not the way we want to be able to win the trophy, but now Chelsea are in the semifinals, hopefully, we can continue to progress and finally qualify for the final,” added the 29-year-old.
In the semifinals, the Blues will challenge German representatives, Eintracht Frankfurt. They will first undergo an away match in the first leg on May 3, before finally hosting Luka Jovic et al at Stamford Bridge on 10 May.
