Bad play in the first half is a factor in Chelsea’s defeat

DBasia.news – Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard revealed the reason his team lost the match against Arsenal. According to him, Chelsea played poorly in the first half.

Chelsea lost 3-1 when they visited Arsenal’s headquarters in the 2020-2021 Premier League match, at the Emirates Stadium, Sunday (27/12) am, WIB. Tammy Abraham’s goal in the second half was not enough for Chelsea to score points.

Frank Lampard said that Chelsea made many mistakes in the first half. The Blues conceded two goals through the actions of Alexandre Lacazette and Granit Xhaka.

“In the second half, we showed some response, but it was too late. In the first half, we made too many mistakes ourselves. We were teribble. You can’t lack energy and desire in the Premier League. The problem is, we did it,” Lampard told the BBC.

“You can prepare as well as you can. However, if you play like that there would be problems.”

Lampard admitted, Chelsea played below standard. Moreover, the Blues had momentum near the end of the match.

“If you perform below standard, things like Saka’s goal will happen. On another day, we could have scored from a penalty to come back, but that was not today,” added the coach.

“Teams that win non-stop did not achieve the same in two or three years ago. I felt it when we were on a long, unbeaten journey. We made a lot of mistakes today.”

Now, Chelsea is in seventh place in the standings with 25 points from 15 matches. Next, Thiago Silva and his team mates will host Aston Villa, Tuesday (29/12).
