Barca frustrated?
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona and Manchester United recorded a draw with a score of 2-2 in the first leg of the Europa League play-off at Camp Nou.
Barcelona took the lead early in the second half when Marcos Alonso scored a header from a corner. But the visitors quickly turned things around, with Marcus Rashford scoring from a tight angle before seeing his cross deflected in by Jules Kounde minutes later.
The Blaugrana equalized when Raphinha’s cross curled past Robert Lewandowski and slid into United’s net.
Goalkeeper & Defender
Marc Andre ter Stegen (6/10):
Made some important saves in the first half but should have stopped Rashford’s equaliser.
Ronald Araujo (7/10):
Made a splash playing at right back, and for the most part solid. Appeared better after being moved to central defence.
Jules Kounde (4/10):
Several of his passes often ran aground and it was tough to guard Rashford, especially in the second half. Ended the night poorly after scoring an own goal.
Marcos Alonso (7/10):
It was quite a surprise to see him play in place of Andreas Christensen. Performed well scoring goals and defending pretty solid.
Jordy Alba (6/10):
Energetic, solid in defence, but still lacking in finishing touch.
Midfielder
Franck Kessie (6/10):
Did a lot of dirty work, didn’t contribute much in the final third. Quick to replace.
Frenkie de Jong (6/10):
Barca midfielder who often falls far back. Fantastic in the first half, but dropped a bit in the second half.
Pedro (5/10):
Enjoyed some good moments, often penetrated the opponent’s defense but had to be withdrawn in the 42nd minute due to injury.
Attacker
Raphinha (8/10):
Provided a threat from the left. Fast, cunning and gets goals to his name. Appeared unhappy when he was replaced by another player with 10 minutes remaining in the match.
Robert Lewandowski (6/10):
Not as usual, numb in front of the opponent’s goal, almost scored against De Gea with a clever header. The game was livelier in the second half.
Gavi (6/10):
Returned to his left wing role and put in quite a good performance. Wasn’t very active in the final third, picking up a ridiculous yellow card that would see him suspended for the second leg.
Reserve & Trainer
Sergi Roberto (5/10):
Came on late in the first half to replace the injured Pedri, and proved exactly why Pedri replaced him.
Andreas Christensen (6/10):
Replaces Alonso and offers much needed composure at the back.
Alejandro Balde (6/10):
Coming in and playing the role of left-back, it’s quite strange because when he entered Barca when they needed an additional striker.
Ansu Fati (6/10):
Seemed to be in the game, but missed a good chance.
Ferran Torres (N/A):
Not enough time to make an impact.
Xavi (7/10):
Took a risk by playing Alonso at centre-back, but the player did not let him down. Avoiding defeat but a draw is also not the result he wanted.
