Barcelon revealed the reasons for not selling Griezmann this summer
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona have reportedly changed their minds regarding the future of forward, Antoine Griezmann. The Blaugrana have decided not to sell Griezmann this summer.
Initially, Antoine Griezmann was included in the list of players who would be dismissed by Barcelona in the summer of 2021. Barca assessed that Griezmann’s contribution was not in line with the large salary he received.
In addition, Barca also needed more space in terms of salary to re-sign Lionel Messi. The urge to sell Griezmann has emerged.
Barcelona had negotiated with Atletico Madrid to swap Griezmann for Saul Niguez. However, because the value of the two players is different, the transfer cannot be completed.
Barca also offered Griezmann to a number of clubs in England and Italy. As a result, no club is willing to disburse funds of up to 80 million euros.
Inevitably, Barca also pulled Griezmann from the selling list. Understandably, Barca does not want to experience a loss if they have to release Griezmann below that amount. Moreover, Barcelona spent up to 125 million euros to buy Griezmann.
Another reason Griezmann stayed came from Ronald Koeman. The coach feels that Griezmann is still needed to navigate the 2021-2022 season.
Griezmann’s ability to play in various positions is a plus. Koeman also does not want the depth of the squad in the banging sector to decrease if Griezmann leaves. Moreover, Barca reportedly will not look for a replacement if the French national team player leaves.
In addition, Griezmann is reportedly willing to cut some of his salary to stay at Barcelona. According to AS reports, in addition to Griezmann, Barcelona will also keep Philippe Coutinho.
