Barcelona are taking their time in registering players, Kessie and Christensen can be released for free

DBasia.news – On Sunday (14/08), FC Barcelona will welcome Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou for the inaugural LaLiga 2022-2023 pepper.

This means, Barcelona have three days less to immediately register new players to LaLiga. The reason is because of their current economic condition, LaLiga wants Barca to finish it first before registering players.

Uniquely from the news published by ESPN, if Barcelona do not immediately register the new players then players like Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie can go for free, aka free agents.

In fact, both of them also came from free agents after Christensen’s contract at Chelsea ended and Kessie with AC Milan. Reportedly the two players also have an agreement in the clause that could see them go for free.

Other new signings such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kunde have also not been registered with LaLiga, as are Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembele who recently signed new contracts.

However, ESPN believes that Christensen and Kessie’s situation is a little different because they both joined Barcelona for free. Therefore, if they choose, both Christensen and Kessie can leave for free after the transfer window closes.

In the worst case scenario, Barcelona could also talk to the player’s agent to avoid it as they have until the end of the month to register new players.

Barcelona have spent 150 million euros this summer and received more than 600 million euros, selling 25% of domestic television rights over 25 years and 24.5 per cent of a stake in Barca Studios.

That alone is considered not enough for Barcelona to register players. The club is also trying to sell another 24.5% stake in Barca Studios, as well as continuing to negotiate for salary adjustments with the players in the team. On the other hand, Barca believe they can register players before the match against Vallecano by activating the phase four economic lever.
