DBasia.news – Barcelona has the intention to recruit the legendary European goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon. The 41-year-old goalkeeper leaves from PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) at the end of June 2019 as his contract has expired.
As reported by Sky Sports, Barcelona are interested in bringing Buffon in anticipation if Jasper Cillessen leaves. Uniquely, Cillessen, besides the interest of Benfica, was also used as a replacement for David De Gea at Manchester United (if leaving).
Buffon will be a competitor and teacher for Marc-Andre ter Stegen if he comes to Barcelona. At the age of 41 years old, Juventus and the Italian national team legends have great experience at European and international levels.
The 2006 world champion still wanted to continue playing despite being in his fourties. Apart from Barcelona, Buffon also received offers to play from all over the world including: Brazil, China, Germany and Turkey.
So far, only Fenerbahce has shown seriousness in bringing Buffon. If Buffon defends Barcelona, the Catalunya club will become the fourth club he will defend after strengthening Parma (1995-2001), Juventus (2001-2018), and PSG (2018-2019).
