DBasia.news – Barcelona are reportedly willing to release midfielder, Philippe Coutinho, to AC Milan in the transfer market this summer. In fact, the Blaugrana are ready to lower his price if the Rossoneri wants to accommodate Coutinho.
Barcelona is struggling to get out of their financial problems. Despite having borrowed funds, Barca still need to cut spending.
One of the ways to do this is to sell high-paid players, but have minimal impact. Philipe Coutinho is also included in these criteria.
Since signing from Liverpool in January 2018, Coutinho has failed to provide the ability as expected. In fact, Barcelona once loaned Coutinho to Bayern Munich to restore the player’s touch.
However, after returning, Coutinho did not show significant progress. Even in the 2020-2021 season, the 29 year old player only made 14 appearances in various competitions. Coutinho is mostly in the treatment room after suffering a knee injury in December.
As a result, Barcelona began to offer Philippe Coutinho to a number of clubs. One of the targets is AC Milan. Barcelona hopes that an agreement can be reached so that the salary burden is also reduced.
To entice the Rossoneri, Barcelona are willing to sell Coutinho for 21 million pounds. This value is far below the price Barca paid when bringing Coutinho from Liverpool. At that time, Barca spent 143 million pounds.
Besides Coutinho, Barcelona are reportedly also trying to get rid of Samuel Umtiti and Miralem Pjanic. In fact, for the two players, Barca are willing to let them go with the status of termination of the contract. That means, interested clubs does not need to spend transfer money.
